ESSENCE Instruments – Who we are
Over the last five decades, Professor Christopher Gillberg, a world-renowned researcher in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the head of Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre, Gothenburg, Sweden, has been at the forefront of developing and validating screening instruments and diagnostic aids for use in both clinical and research settings worldwide. In collaboration with his global research network, he has played a pivotal role in shaping these tools for use within the field of child and adolescent neuropsychiatry/ESSENCE. Characterised by their precision and effectiveness, these instruments have gained wide international recognition among stakeholders ranging from healthcare professionals, academic researchers and educational professionals to individuals with a vested interest in ESSENCE.
Throughout the years, our screening tools have aided various stakeholders in gathering thorough patient data and information, enabling them to swiftly and effectively identify and diagnose ESSENCE conditions. Consequently, stakeholders have been empowered to make well-informed decisions and deliver suitable interventions.
What we do
ESSENCE Instruments proudly launches its digital platform for screening instruments/diagnostic aids. Our platform, which has both a user-friendly interface and complies with recommended accessibility guidelines, houses our screening instruments in a wide range of languages.

Our mission
Our mission is to increase the global accessibility of our screening questionnaires by translating them into as many languages as possible.
We strive to translate all of our screening questionnaires into as many languages as possible so our instruments can be used globally in both research and clinical settings. If you wish to use our questionnaires but notice it is not available in the language you require, and wish to work with us on this project, please contact us.
