About the ESSENCE-Q Adult

The ESSENCE-Q Adult is a screening questionnaire for adults with 12 items addressing potential concerns about problems during early development. There are three alternatives for each item: “Yes”, “Maybe/A little” and “No”.

Tally up the number of YES responses and MAYBE/A LITTLE responses.

The psychometric properties of the ESSENCE-Q Adult are currently being evaluated.

The ESSENCE-Q Adult can be filled out by the patient/adult individual themselves or by a parent. The questionnaire can also be used as a checklist during an interview (conducted by a doctor, psychologist or nurse) with the patient. One (or more) clear YES responses or three (or more) MAYBE/A LITTLE responses indicate a need to examine the patient’s childhood medical history further.
